That's Not Magic, That's God!

"That's not magic. That's God!" I replied to one of our 3rd - 5th graders when we were sharing today about how Jesus disappeared right before the eyes of two of his followers the day of his resurrection and suddenly appeared to another group of disciples later that evening. We are wrapping up our first club at Quinton Township School next week and have used Jesus: God Who Saves. With an average of 10 kids each week, it has been encouraging to see their excitement in using highlighters to mark the verses in their Bibles for memory verse work, dancing along with the songs, interacting with the lessons, and helping each other during the games. The counseling times have been a great time to listen to them share what the verses mean to them and hear what they believe.

There are several who shared that they already believed and accepted Christ as Savior, but there are several others who weren't ready yet. Keep praying for these kids! They are so eager to hear the message and keep coming back to club each week.

We also have had a unique and amazing opportunity to have some of the 7th and 8th graders stay after as helpers. These older youth go to Quinton Baptist Church and were looking for ways to serve. They eagerly jumped at the chance when they heard of this one. They've performed our skits, worked in small groups for locating the verses in the Bible and for practicing the verses, assisted the review game activities as well as encouraged the younger students to pray with them - even at school if they want to.

Our goal for next week is not just to review the lessons and verses (and have a little PARTY!), but to take time to share about how they can grow in Christ and impact those around them. Just as the older kids offered to pray with them, they can turn and do the same for each other at school too. They can keep bringing their Bibles to school and share the verses and lessons they've learned with their classmates and teachers when they have free time (and are not interrupting class). We'll have a time to share about local churches, youth groups, and VBS and talk about who they could invite to go with them or where they might want to try to visit.

We are so thankful for the opportunity to do the Good News Club at Quinton School and look forward to doing a fall club in October!
